Health and Safety Advisor


Based at Colten House, Ringwood BH24 3FE

In this key operational role, you'll be supporting the organisation in all H&S matters. Working with established H&S Champions you will help promote a positive safe working environment and making recommendations for change. You'll be developing an engaging Health & Safety culture, ensuring that Colten Care is a safe place for staff, Residents, and visitors.

You’ll be responsible for advising, monitoring, and supporting our teams in achieving legal compliance and industry best practice through solution based ideas and recommendations.

Working proactively with our Directors and Managers, you will be our Ambassador for H&S, instilling a programme of continual improvement, carrying out regular audits, routine visits to our Homes and supporting our very successful L&D programme in H&S and Fire Safety.  

You will have previous experience of working in Health and Safety at an operational level with a record of success. As a natural communicator you will be adept at building strong and lasting relationships with all stakeholders.

What you'll have:

  • Experience of practicing Health & Safety in a complex organisation
  • Experience of Emergency Planning procedures
  • A proven track record of Fire risk management 
  • Experience in risk assessing, audit/inspections, and compliance.
  • Brilliant people skills - you'll be able to build relationships across the business
  • A detailed understanding of the UK's Health and Safety legal framework
  • Full NEBOSH diploma or equivalent NEBOSH qualifications are a must
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills
