Activity Organiser Team Leader - lead our Companionship team

Based at Avon Reach, Christchurch, BH23 4AH

36 hours per week including alternate weekends and some evenings, with flexibility to work between 8am - 8pm on a rota basis

Pay rate from £10.81 per hour to £12.31 per hour at weekends

As the Companion Team Leader, you will champion the activities and wellbeing service provided at the care home. You will ensure that our residents can look forward to a calendar of activities and social events that enhance their quality of life. Activities can be of any size from 'whole home events' through to smaller group activities and quiet, one to one sessions. We fully utilise the home’s communal spaces and its gardens to provide stimulating and enjoyable activities every day and offer a variety of outside trips on the minibus.

As the Companion Team Leader, you will manage a small team of Companions and will play your part in co-ordinating, organising and delivering a range of activities.  Additionally, you will be responsible for the team’s work allocation and rostering for team members. You will identify requirements for support, supervisions and training, planning holiday and sickness cover, monitoring the effective management of the team budget and resident records. You will lead team meetings and be a primary representative for the team internally and externally to ensure that the companionship team meets residents' needs and preferences.

Alongside the Home Manager and Customer Service team, you will maintain and nurture links with the local community, encouraging visits from professional entertainers and supporting with the planning and delivery of fundraising, gala and themed events for the care home and local charities.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to be a team manager and is fun and varied; no two days are the same and you will be making a positive difference to the wellbeing of residents in your care.

About you

As a ‘team leader’ you’ll be someone who has demonstrated supervisory/leadership skills in previous roles.  We actively encourage applications from candidates in health and social care, support workers, teaching environments, entertainment or other similar roles where responsibility for activities and groups of people are key.

We recruit people who are great role-models for their teams and who are flexible, approachable, supportive and reliable, with excellent communication skills and a good level of computer and keyboard skills.  You will demonstrate a passion for organising, entertaining and working collaboratively with residents, their families, team members and outside partners.

We will support you with ongoing development, in a team-based community, with staffing levels recognised as among the best in the care sector.

About us

Colten Care is an expanding family-owned business with 21 beautifully appointed care homes across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and West Sussex.

Our established services are all rated as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and we provide residential, general nursing, dementia and short-stay care.

We are a prestigious, award-winning healthcare provider that champions the latest approaches to person-centred care. Each of our homes has a distinct character while retaining that all-important sense of ‘home.’ We play an active role in furthering dementia friendly communities as part of our work.

Our aims are simple: to be recognised as both the care home ‘provider of choice’ and ‘employer of choice.’
